Order Series (2002-2012)

Each work in this series began with the writing of a word (e.g.“order”) in the center of the paper. I then referenced a thesaurus and encircled the word with all of its synonyms. I next listed synonyms for those synonyms and so on, working my way out to the edges of the paper. The arrangement of the chains of synonyms are initially ordered but quickly grow into a complicated tangle of branches that often refer back to themselves but sometimes evolve far beyond the meaning of the initial term.
